The 8 BIT KiD – Beat it Remixed by k-19

A great track my mate re-mixed for me. The underlying 8bit tone is mine but K-19 has beefed it up with some lovely drum and bass, oh and vocals. Download now or watch the video also made by k-19

My I phone Top 5

February 15th, 2009

Starting with number 5

Number 5
GPS Mission:

Price (Free)

I’ve not had much of a chance to use this yet but I love the idea. Many weekends I sit indoors trying to think of places to go. This nice little app turns that dilemma into a game. The idea is pretty simple, collect “gold” to buy trophies. You collect gold by visiting attractions in your local area. Take a photo of evidence and upload. Once you have been there you get gold! woo hoo. Simple, I can imagine this game is going to be very addictive.
Downside, it can take ages to find your location (more likely the phone not the app)

Number 4
Price (£2.99)
Warfare inc:

I’m a massive fan of the command and conquer series and this game is a great clone. Forget the fact it is a clone for a second. Playing this game is great and works really well with the touch screen. It’s got all the features you would expect from C&C build a base, units, collect resources and attack. Whats great is that you can even build your own maps and even download other user’s maps. (there are loads).
Downside, the graphics could be sharper. It was designed for PDA phones and hasn’t been updated for the Iphone’s screen resolution.

Number 3
Twitteriffic
Price(lite version)

Great app for updating your twitter. Nicely laid out and simple to use. Like the way that there is an integrated browser.
Downside, there isn’t one really other than after 50 post a advert is displayed.

Number 2
Beatmaker
Price (£11.99)

Sounds expensive but well worth it, this powerful application allows you to create music right on your phone. Unlike other music apps this one has all the features you need including, recording, importing, editing, filters and editing to name a few. Every time I launch this application I’m amazed, its so easy to forget your working on a phone!
Downside, may cost a bit but if you want to make some banging tunes, this IS the tool.

P.S. I’ve made a “album” entirely from beatmaker, so if you want an example of the true power behind beatmaker head to www.bensimms.co.uk – downloads – album. The entire album is free for download! Let me know what you think, I love feedback bad or good as long as it’s constructive.
Number 1
Jail Brake
Price (free)

OK, not really a application as such and totally invalidates your Apple warranty but this really does turn your phone into a computer!
I love to customise my toys and the default OS on the iphone is very restrictive. By jail braking I can now change all sounds, backgrounds, fonts, colours and just about everything else.
Apps such as ‘background’ are great, they make the phone a computer. Background allows you to leave applications open in the background while you use other apps.
Apps such as toggle give you quick access to turning wifi on and off, brightness up and down, bluetooth on and off and more. It’s what you want.

So that’s it in a nutshell, my top 5
